Rowdy has returned after healing from his February accident at Daytona, and based on recent history will likely get a waiver from NASCAR that would allow him to qualify for the Chase if he can win and get into the top 30 in points somehow.
But ... and this is a big but ... that's not a guarantee or even likely.
Nothing against Kyle, who no doubt is still one of the best -- perhaps THE best -- pure racer on the track each weekend.
But after an injury like he suffered in February, he shouldn't expect a miracle recovery and a quick return to his winning ways.
Ask Tony Stewart, who went through a tough injury and is still getting his feel for the racecar back more than a year later.
I am glad Kyle is back, as things are always more interesting with him on the track and rivalries will be ignited. If he can pull off a miracle and win quickly after returning and get into the top 30, it will be interesting to see what he can do in the Chase.
I just don't see it happening. If Kyle can prove me wrong, it will be quite an accomplishment.
