Mercedes-Benz’s redesigned GLC SUV will celebrate its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March and will go on sale in the U.S. by late 2019.

With its distinctive appearance, new operating system, innovative driver assistance systems and a new, enhanced engine, the GLC offers the best from the world of Mercedes-Benz. The exterior design captivates with its wide and sporty visual appearance.

Muscularly sculpted surfaces and distinctive details such as the chrome elements, which now run from the front to the rear end, the redesigned headlamps and the heavily contoured radiator grille ensure a strong off-road character.

The interior combines luxury and user-friendliness in an uncompromising way with a larger display. In addition, the latest generation of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) multimedia system impresses with intuitive and versatile operating options such as touch and the optimized Voice Control system.

The driver assistance systems were considerably expanded and complemented, and the GLC will also be equipped with a new 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine with more output and greater efficiency.

The iconic Mercedes G-Class, known for its unique look and off-road capability for nearly four decades, is about to get its biggest makeover in a long time, including an updated interior.

Interior

That this is a contemporary interpretation of a legend is also evident, for example, from the car's clear, geometric lines: climbing aboard the G-Class reveals styling elements from the exterior transposed into the interior. The shape of the round headlamps, for instance, which is reflected in the air vents on either side. Or the design of the iconic indicators, found again in the shape of the loudspeakers.

Hallmarks of the G-Class include the grab handle in front of the front passenger and the chrome-highlighted switches for the differential locks, positioned in clear view. Both have been meticulously optimized and retained as characteristic features.

“I’m going to drive THAT THING? This should be interesting”

That’s the thought that ran through my head when I first saw the 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter passenger van pull up to my driveway …

Until you see one of these vehicles up close, and see it side by side against regular vehicles, you can’t appreciate its size. This full-size van makes large SUVs look like small cars, and small cars look like toys to be flicked away with your finger.

With their vertical design, approaching the size of a UPS truck, and featuring comfortable seating for a dozen people plus a large storage area in the rear, they’re an amazing sight to see.

Owning a Mercedes is a goal of many upwardly bound car buyers; the name has a certain buzz around it and it’s associated with elegance and quality.

But is that buzz justified or just hype?

I spent some time recently in a 2015 Mercedes C-class sedan, which underwent a major redesign for this model year, and I’m back with a full report on whether this Mercedes offering lives up to its brand’s lofty name.
