2. Solid Power
Two levels of power are offered in the 2025 Kia K4.
— 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder offering 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque.
— 1.6-liter, turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, with 190 horsepower and 195 pound-feet
These are solid numbers — especially the turbo option, which I recommend — but unfortunately you do not get the choice to add All-Wheel Drive to the K4.
I wouldn’t call the K4 sporty — some rival sedans have a stronger claim to that adjective — but it's a smooth and reliable ride that will be powerful enough for most drivers, with 0 to 60 times around 7 seconds, and a Sport driving mode offered.
3. Tech Treats
The center of the tech system in the Kia K4 is a 12.3-inch touchscreen, which is mirrored by a 12.3-inch digital screen in front of the driver with gauges. A few key controls such as climate are also adjustable via physical buttons, which is nice to see. Voice commands were also reliable.
The K4 is compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, offers multiple USB ports, and a quality Harman/Kardon speaker setup for music lovers.
In terms of safety tech, The K4 does very well for a smaller vehicle, including helpful features such as Highway Driving Assist, Surround View Camera System, Automatic Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist and Safe Exit Warning.
4. Strong on Fuel Mileage
The turbo engine delivers 26 mpg city/36 highway/29 combined. And the base engine will boost those numbers to 30 city/40 highway/34 highway.
These are strong numbers that hold up well among traditional gas-powered compact sedans. You can get even better fuel mileage with hybrid versions of rival sedans, but there is no hybrid offered on the K4.
5. The Price is Right
A small car should mean a small price, and that’s true for the K4, which starts around $23K — among the lowest starting prices you’ll find on any new vehicle. Even at its highest price point, you’re only a hair over $30K. In this market, that’s a rare find.
A handful of trims are offered, ranging from the base LX model to the top GT-Line Turbo trim.
You also get Kia’s industry-leading warranties, including a 10-year/100,000 Mile powertrain warranty, and 5-year/60,000 mile overall warranty.
